Fleet Technical Management

Fleet Technical Management consists of five specialist groups to ensure the Emirates Fleet operates to the highest standards of service and technical despatch reliability.

• Airframe Systems
  
  Provides services for the mechanical aspects of airframe systems and components. This includes flight controls, air conditioning system, windows, doors (mechanical), landing gear, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel, cargo, loading, fire extinguishing, water, waste systems, electrical and software controls for components relating to airframes.
• Structures
  
  Provides services in support of metallic and composite aircraft structures - this includes passenger doors, flight control surfaces, landing gear structural items and doors, baggage/cargo provisions and exterior markings. In collaboration with manufacturers, the section also develops and approves structural repairs for aircraft and components and liaises with manufacturers to undertake repairs of a minor nature that are not covered by repair manuals.
• Avionics
  
  Provides services for avionics systems including electrical generation, distribution, lighting, information systems (e.g., Electronic Flight Bag), communications, navigation, and instruments, including and auto flight control systems and their software controls. Avionics has the capability to customise the Airline Modifiable Software.
  
  The Avionics group also supports the industry's most sophisticated, state-of-the-art IFE systems, including audio/video on demand (AVOD) systems, SMS/emails, SATCOM, telephone, air show moving map, games, connectivity, and the related software controls.
• Powerplant
  
  Provides services for power plant and APU systems and accessories, including engine health and APU condition monitoring, optimisation of engine time on-wing, engine removal planning and work scoping, monitoring of borescope inspection findings.
• Cabin
  
  Provides fleet technical services for passenger cabin and flight deck. This includes passenger & flight deck seats, galleys, toilets, stowage structures, interior markings, carpets & curtains, emergency & medical equipment, galley equipment (e.g. trolleys, ovens, coffee makers, boilers) and our state-of-the-art on-board bars, shower spas and lounges. The cabin team also manages cabin retrofit projects and re-configurations.

Maintenance Programmes & Configuration

The Maintenance Programmes and Configuration department comprises three specialist sections: Fleet Maintenance Programmes, Fleet Modification Programmes and Fleet Configuration Management.

• Fleet Maintenance Programmes
  
  Manages the definition of Aircraft Maintenance Programme under UAE GCAA CAR M 302. The Aircraft Maintenance Programme is derived through recommendations from the aircraft, engine and APU manufactures along with in-service experience and requirements mandated by Airworthiness Authorities.
  Once the programme is defined and approved, the requirements are fed into our enterprise software for maintenance forecast and compliance control, based on fleet utilisation. The Aircraft and Component/Engine level Maintenance Programmes are managed by different sub-sections under very close coordination and provide input for scheduled maintenance work package scoping for the hangar and in-house work-shops.
• Fleet Modification Programmes
  
  Manages aircraft modification programme definition and control for accomplishment on fleet aircraft and components.
  
  The modification programme definition team coordinates initial spare and tool provisioning to establish achievable modification schedules in collaboration with key stakeholders. Modification control definition ensures appropriate management of dependencies i.e. subsequent, concurrent or superseding relationships.
  
  The modification programme team also ensure communication with aircraft manufacturers for required updates to technical publications which may have been affected due modifications.
• Fleet Configuration Management
  
  Ensures effective configuration management of fleet aircraft and their components through our enterprise software.
  
  The baseline configurations are derived from aircraft delivery document data and enhanced by our own operational requirements. Configuration management maintains the traceability of controlled components by location on the aircraft and associated required information e.g., usage, modification status etc. supporting Supply Chain, Reliability Monitoring and Lease Returns.

Technical Publications Centre

Technical Publications Centre (TPC) is part of the Engineering Technical Services department. TPC receives, controls and disseminates (publishing and distribution) engineering, maintenance and operational technical data to support Emirates Engineering and Operations worldwide. TPC documentation services support Emirates approvals in accordance with UAE GCAA CAR M, CAR 145, CAR 21 and CAR-OPS 1.
