Engine Test Cell

The Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC), popularly called the Engine Test Cell, is located within a newly built, aesthetically pleasing and superbly engineered environment, designed to optimise the latest technological advancements in test technology.

This state-of-the-art facility is built on a 24,000 square meter site, including engine preparation area, covering 3250 square metres. It is dedicated to six engine work stations, each served by a 30-tonne crane.  The system is interconnected by monorail with a bridge and turntable which links the preparation area to the Test Cell Chamber, making internal engine movement easier to achieve.  It is built to prepare and test engines with thrust levels of up to 150,000 pounds, working in collaboration with important engine manufacturers General Electric, Engine Alliance to support Emirates’ growing fleet  and third party requirements within the region and globally.

One of only twelve such facilities in the world, the EEMC is currently the largest test facility of its kind in the Middle East and one of the most modern globally. This facility is certified by GCAA, EASA and FAA to test a large spectrum of Jet Engines, details of Engine Testing Capability are as detailed below:

Quality & Safety Department

Quality and Safety are primary considerations for all maintenance activity undertaken by Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC) at all times. Our Quality and Safety Management Systems ensure that our customers’ needs are fully met, while complying with all regulatory and legal requirements.
Audit programs are designed and implemented by Quality & Safety Department to actively monitor all aspects of compliance to the regulatory requirements. Quality & Safety Department ensure all applicable elements of the quality system are in place, documented, and effectively implemented, in order to assure that the corporate commitment and obligations to regulations, safety policy and quality standards are followed. The Quality & Safety Department manages and monitors the following functions:

  • Company Organisation Approvals
  • Company Expositions, Procedure Manual and Policies
  • Staff authorisation
  • Quality & Safety Audit
  • Supplier/ Vendor Approval
  • Capability Evaluation
  • Quality & Safety oversight of maintenance, technical & support functions.

This assures that Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC) remains within the scope of the terms and approval requirements set by the GCAA, EASA and Other NAA's regulations and airworthiness standards.
