Base Maintenance

The Base Maintenance team keeps the Emirates fleet in the best possible condition. We carry out all major routine, planned maintenance tasks and any unscheduled maintenance tasks such as repairs, replacements and modifications.

This includes aircraft A and C checks, and maintaining the aircraft appearance in our paint shops. We also carry out inspections required for GCAA approvals.

Base Heavy Maintenance

Our highly qualified engineers carry out all levels of the aircraft letter checks – an extensive scheduled inspection and repair of all major systems and structural modifications. This includes cabin and inflight entertainment retrofits, aircraft deliveries, and inspection programmes on the Airbus A380 and Boeing 777.

Base Maintenance provides essential support, and the expertise of the team means we can meet critical downtime deadlines and cost efficiencies.

Base Maintenance also carry out A checks, engine changes and landing gear changes for both our Boeing and Airbus fleets. The team also undertakes all unscheduled maintenance activities and pre-service checks for new additions to the fleet.

The team is also trained and experienced in dealing with disabled aircraft. It provides full support to Dubai International Airport and several neighbouring airports in the United Arab Emirates. The team's specialised recovery equipment is maintained to a constant state of readiness and can be deployed rapidly by road or air to deal with incidents across the Gulf region. Additional equipment enables the team to attend to disabled aircraft up to and including the ICAO Code F aircraft (the A380).

Aircraft Appearance

These teams make the aircraft look special. Livery, paintwork, maintenance of the aircraft interior finish is all taken care of at the Aircraft Appearance Centre (our aircraft paint facility).

The centre is divided into three areas: a paint hangar, a paint workshop, and a graphic and decal shop.

Paint Hangar

Our paint hangar has its own controlled environment. It’s a fully automated climate control facility, capable of accommodating any aircraft up to the Airbus A380. We use the latest technology to control the relative humidity and temperature during all aspects of the repaint phase, from paint removal through to paint application and various decorative liveries. At the same time, we exceed the standards set by the OEM.

Paint Shop

These experts provide top to bottom paintwork on the fleet, including precision interior finishing. The paint shop is equipped with a preparation area, temperature-controlled spray booths, as well as a wood grain design section. This is where we carry out a complete paint refurbishment of the interior seats, monuments, sidewalls, and ceilings as well as restoring multiple wood grain and other intricate designs across the Emirates fleet. The skilled technicians at the paint shop carry out all paintwork repairs from Base Maintenance to Line Maintenance. The workshops provide surface re-finishing, including full paint restoration on wheel hubs, paint refurbishment on all engine components, paint renewal on interior furnishings including the paint repairs on the aircraft exterior and its components.

Graphics and Decal Shop

This is where we fabricate all interior placards, all exterior mandatory markings, stencils and livery markings, and all promotional aircraft decals for special occasions or celebrations.
