The Component Management section (CM) deals with high value rotable aircraft component assets. This includes initial provisioning, re-provisioning, optimising inventory, repair and pooling of assets. By adopting supply chain management best practice, performance metrics and processes, this section maintains the highest quality standards and service levels at the lowest possible cost.
CM is divided into three sub-sections:
Component Repair primarily deals with the repair, overhaul, modification and refurbishment of unserviceable aircraft components. Their main objective is to get components repaired, overhauled or modified and bring them back to a serviceable and airworthy condition, maintaining the highest quality standards and the lowest possible cost in order to reduce aircraft maintenance costs.
Components that are not within Emirates Engineering’s in-house repair capability are usually repaired by the original equipment manufacturers or in some cases by other contracted, high quality airline workshops.
The Material Planning section (Rotables) analyses and develops strategic methodologies for spares support of each type of equipment and supports/controls aircraft spares and material inventories. It effectively manages aircraft components in order to achieve desired service levels and optimum stock levels.
Timely initial provision reviews of rotables, repairable, expendable and consumable items for engine, aircraft, BFE and IFE are carried out after analysing manufacturer recommendations. A further core function of the section is to ensure timely replenishment of aircraft and engine spares and materials in order to support aircraft maintenance.
The main objective of this section is to plan and organise proper storage and distribution of aircraft materials in order to provide efficient and effective material supply and support to the Aircraft Maintenance section and other airlines.
