Located within a newly built, aesthetically pleasing and superbly engineered environment, the Emirates Engine Maintenance Centre (EEMC) is a state-of-the-art engine test facility designed to optimise the latest technological advancements in test technology.

One of only twelve such facilities in the world, EEMC is currently the largest test facility of its kind in the Middle East.

Environmentally friendly and highly efficient, the test operation is constructed to meet the most stringent regulations for noise, emissions and waste management, in addition to strict safety and environmental requirements.

The EEMC can test a variety of aircraft engines/APUs (with up to 150,000 pounds of thrust) and is scheduled to perform 500 engine and APU tests annually. It can also evaluate aircraft engines, APU performance, mechanical integrity and operational characteristics of engines/APUs in accordance with manufacturers recommended procedures and criteria for overhaul, repair and other maintenance activities.

The facility is approved for GE90-115B engines and 331-350C APUs testing and will shortly be extended to cover RR Trent 500, 700 and 800 engines, GP 7200 engines and 331-500B and 600A APUs.

The maintenance centre comprises three main sections:

  1. The turbo fan engine testing facility
  2. The ancillary power unit testing facility and
  3. Engine and APU preparation area

The EEMC also houses offices, break rooms, conference rooms, prayer room, secure storage rooms and areas in addition to mechanical equipment and electrical rooms and a control room for the Turbofan Test Cell and APU.
